Hi, I’m Alex. Nice to meet you.

Alex Descotes |

Hello there. My name is Alex DesCotes and I am the graphic designer (and newest member) at The Met Agency.

After graduating from the University of Alberta in 2011 with a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design, I jumped into my first design job as an in-house graphic designer. It was awesome. I was so happy to get to go to work everyday, apply what I had learned from school and start adding new things to my design toolkit.

Subsequently, I started realizing that for me, there was something missing. It dawned on me that it was collaboration and critical discussion. In school we would work in groups, critique each other’s work and really push each other to find the best creative solutions. If you ever had a problem, there were other creatives you could talk with. I decided this was something of high value to me, and I wanted to find a studio that incorporated these practices into its process.

I’m happy to say that I’ve found what I was looking for here at The Met. I’m coming up on my four months and time has flown by! The Met seems to have cracked the code on creating a great workplace where everyone challenges and motivates each other to do their best. If I had to create some sort of insert excuse to make an infographic here to demonstrate what makes The Met such a great place to work, it would be something like…

awesome team + seamless process + great projects + lovely office building + never-ending pot of coffee

= The Met Agency

Obviously there are many more cogs turning in this well-oiled machine, but this is my short and sweet interpretation as a new addition to the team.

Interested in knowing more about me? I like cooking… and the results of cooking. I like to go camping. I love to read. I like escaping to the mountains. I like coffee. I like swimming. I say I like running, but truthfully it’s more of a love/hate relationship. I like visiting new cities and as you may have guessed, I like creating infographics.

If you have any questions for me come say hi, I’d love to meet you!

Also, because it’s Christmas I did up some festive desktops for you to use. Click on the links below to download the image.

Merry Christmas and hope you like them!
